Dear Flight Attendants,
First, we want to thank you for taking the time to vote and let your voice be heard. The percentage of Flight Attendants who voted set an all time record at Horizon Air. We believe this participation rate reflects the passion our flight attendants have for a better work environment. We also want to thank those of you who were able to attend a road show or a crew sit, get information, and provide feedback to your Negotiating Committee.
Immediately after the voting results of the tentative agreement were released, your officers and Negotiating Committee began the process of moving forward to produce a new package that satisfies the needs of a greater number of our Flight Attendants. We are working on a survey that should be available very soon, and it’s very important that we get a high participation rate on this survey as well.
We want and need your feedback. In addition to taking the survey, you can share with a VOICE member or officer what you liked and disliked in the failed tentative agreement. We rely greatly on VOICE members as information gatherers, and value the information they provide to the committee. VOICE members can be identified easily; they wear a visible blue badge with black lettering. They are all awesome people and are a great resource when it comes to questions and concerns.
Additionally, LEC 16 (SEA), LEC 17 (PDX), and the MEC all have meetings scheduled in the month of July (you can find the meeting dates, times and locations at the end of this e-mail). The Negotiating Committee and Officers will be available at each of these meetings if you’d prefer to share your opinions in person. Again, we want your feedback, and we are making ourselves available in multiple different formats so we can get it.
Where do we go next? After reviewing the results of the upcoming survey, feedback from you, your fellow colleagues, and the VOICE Committee we will write a new proposal that keeps what people liked and eliminates what was disliked. Likewise, the company’s negotiating committee will assemble a new proposal and negotiating will commence again. If we fail to reach an agreement this time around, the next step is to apply to the National Mediation Board. A mediator will be assigned and with the help of the mediator we will continue to meet until an agreement is obtained, or we reach an impasse.
It is more critical than ever before that we are all united in our goal to create a better work environment at Horizon Air. Everyone has their own personal reasons for why they voted yes or no. Please be respectful of each individual decision in how our members voted. What's most important is that we are able stand in solidarity and build a package together that we can all live with. Wear your AFA pins with pride: our future is in our hands.
Your Negotiation Team
Leslie, Ed, Kirk, and Kimberley
